To fix this, I like to incorporate lots of engaging seasonal February classroom activities, math centers, slides, and interactive read-alouds to bring a little extra fun into our days in 1st grade!

February Daily Slides
I LOVE using daily slides in 1st grade to help guide and organize our day! The slides keep students on task and know what to expect for each part of our day! It also helps me prep and guides my teaching.
Changing out the slides each month to match a seasonal theme is SO fun for my first graders! They love coming in at the beginning of the month and seeing the new slides!

February Math Worksheets
These no-prep February math worksheets are perfect for morning work, independent practice, or math centers! They review skills for 1st grade and each page has a fun Valentine’s Day joke that students love!
These are perfect February classroom activities to incorporate in so many ways! I love to have extra sets copied in case I have 15 extra minutes to fill 😉 My students love coloring the pictures after finishing their work!
February Classroom Activities: Solve the Room Math Centers
Solve the Room is one of our favorite math center routines in my first grade classroom! Each week, one of our math center tubs that students visit is Solve the Room. I tape a new set of math task cards around the classroom.
When students visit this center, they grab a clipboard and a recording sheet and walk around the classroom solving the math problems. After they finish, they visit the Grading Station and check their work! Read more about how I run math centers in first grade here!

February Numberless Word Problems Addition and Subtraction
These Numberless Word Problems are perfect to incorporate into your February classroom activities as a daily math warm up!
I have found that students need daily practice with solving word problems in order to become independent problem solvers. I needed a way to practice every day without it becoming repetitive or boring for my first graders. They absolutely love these fun, seasonal story problems and are SO excited to see what happens in the new word problem each day.
Numberless Word Problems are an amazing tool for helping your students develop problem solving skills! PLUS they are an easy way to differentiate word problems to meet the needs of all of your students!
We use these numberless word problems as a daily math warm up.
- I display the problem (without numbers) on the smart board
- We read the problem together (usually I read first then we choral read)
- I give students think time and we go over the Problem Solving Questions (Poster Included)
- Students discuss with their math partner through a Turn and Talk
- We discuss what is happening in the problem and strategies that we could use to solve.
- Finally I switch to the slide with numbers in the problem and give students time to solve on dry erase boards or their student work page.
- Students share their strategies for solving.

Plan the Easiest Valentine’s Day Party in Elementary
For my Valentine’s Day party in 1st grade, I love using party stations! I use this slide to keep everything on track!
Tips:
- I like splitting my class into 3 groups. Our 3 party stations are Passing out Valentines, Craft, and Snack
- I ask for parent volunteers to plan and be in charge of each of these stations so that I can just supervise
- I included icons for each of these stations, but you can switch it up and use whatever works best in your classroom!
- Our stations last about 15 minutes so that our total party time is between 45-60 min with clean up!
