We love all of Jory John’s books and this one is another perfect and relatable story to read to students! 💕I love doing theme days with my first graders to shake things up and add some excitement to our normal routines. Smart Cookie day was a hit and super simple to put together! I wanted to share some Smart Cookie activities and ideas for a Smart Cookie Day in your classroom!

Make an Anchor Chart
Make a Smart Cookie anchor chart with students and discuss, what are our strengths and what makes us feel smart? I let students turn and talk with a partner. I then call on students to share their ideas with the class. Finally, I give each student a post-it. Students each write one thing that makes them feel smart- a talent or strength that they have.
Do a Smart Cookie writing activity and craft (FREEBIE!)
After brainstorming with our anchor chart, students love making their own Smart Cookie Craft! This No Prep Writing Craft is super simple and perfect to display on a bulletin board!

Do some cookie math activities!
Here’s a few of my favorites:
Cookie Count On Solve the Room
Tape the task cards around the classroom. Students each get a clipboard and walk around and solve the problems! Find the math center here!

Cookie Subtraction Math Match
This activity can be done as a math center or as a whole group activity!
- Give each student a matching card
- Have students walk around the classroom ✨quietly✨looking for their match
- Once they find their partner, they can sit together and start working on a partner activity OR wait for all matches to be found .
- Students can also play memory with the cards during math centers!
Smart Cookie Color by Code
